2026
What all the fuss is about. An intro into an extraordinary year.
Astrological cycles have their own rhythm, rarely syncing with the Gregorian calendar. January 1st often feels arbitrary, divorced from lunar or even solar movement. It arrives in the mid-early degree of Capricorn, a sign known for its structure, discipline and responsibility, in early Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, the light just beginning to wax, but the days still short.
In other words, it’s a somewhat challenging date to hook into, energetically, for any real declaration or resolution.
This year, that day occurs on February 17th, which happens to be the Chinese New Year. It’s also a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius square its ruler, Uranus. A bold New Beginning indeed. It’s also four days, after Saturn leaves Pisces, where it’s muddled through fog, to land in Aries, joining Neptune. Three days after the Eclipse, on February 20th, we have arguably the most significant astrological event of 2026, the Saturn-Neptune Conjunction at 0 degrees Aries. This week is a gamechanger.
These first six weeks of 2026 do provide something, however. Today, Mercury ingressed in Capricorn, joining Mars, the Sun and Venus, forming a stellium. This is useful for planning, placing our two feel firmly on the ground in preparation for mid February and the marked changes to come.
Four of the five Outer Planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune) will shift into Fire and Air Signs, from Water and Earth (Pluto is already in Aquarius, where it will transit until 2044, an Air Sign).
In July, four of the five Outer Planets (Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) will be at 4 degrees, an extremely rare event.
Jupiter will move from Cancer to Leo on June 30th, boosting our creative energy. There is play here, fun, drama and entertainment. Jupiter expands and inflates.
Saturn will, like I mentioned above, move into Aries on February 13th, bringing duty and responsibility to the individual. We’ll be called into action but the impulsiveness and selfishness of Aries will be tempered. There’s agency here, direction and focus. Also, consequence. Saturn contracts and disciplines. It also rewards.
Uranus is stationed at 27 degrees Taurus and will go Direct on February 3rd, On April 26th it moves into Gemini. It’ll be more comfortable in Gemini than it’s been in Taurus these past 7 years. Uranus is change, liberation, reversals. Time will likely feel like it’s speeding up, the rate of change accelerating. Uranus disrupts.
Neptune will enter Aries at the end of this month, on January 2026, where it will remain until 2039. The last time Neptune was in Aries, America underwent a Civil War. Neptune idealizes and romanticizes. In Aries, we may see the re-emergence of the classic Hero, the individualist. It also dissolves. Could we see the dissolution of the individual, as AI and technology erases our unique imprints? Time will tell. Many thought Neptune in Pisces (where it’s been since 2012) would increase our compassion, but it seems to have instead brought a kind of toxic empathy and endless yearning, and addiction to fictional worlds, i.e. social media. Neptune dreams. Dreams up and down.
Pluto is in Aquarius, transforming our relationship to technology and group think. The last time Pluto was in Aquarius, we had both the American and French Revolutions. Liberté! Freedom. What does it mean to be free in this modern world, with its constant surveillance, with its endless noise machine? Pluto destroys and rebirths.
All of these Outer Planets will be in harmony. On an individual level, this will impact us in a variety of ways. Some more, of course, than others. Regardless, it’s a marked shift from the last 5 - 10 years. Less processing, more activity. Less sensitivity, more boundaries.
Outer Planet transits bring circumstances beyond our control. We’re offered a new position that requires a move, we meet someone who changes the direction of our life, we experience a windfall or unexpected loss. Is it our psyche made manifest? Fate? Destiny? Karma? Does it matter, in the end? Maybe.
In any case, the cards are dealt. They’re ours to play. And our story to write.
